The United States Navy will continue bombing training exercises within the Ocala National Forest this week, less than a week after a fighter jet missed a target by six miles, leading to a 20-acre forest fire.
Testing of live/inert bombs at the Pinecastle Range Complex within the forest will resume on Tuesday, February 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Bombing exercises will also be conducted from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, and Thursday, February 20.
During bombing periods, wildlife may be temporarily displaced. Local motorists and residents are advised to proceed with caution through the Ocala National Forest and surrounding areas.
Additionally, local residents are encouraged to secure any items around, as bombing may lead to larger animals, including bears, temporarily relocating.
The bombing comes less than a week after a fighter jet missed its target while bombing in the Ocala National Forest, causing a fire that burned 20 acres of the forest.
