Multiple local artists who have previously taken residence at a popular Ocala art incubator will host an exhibition this weekend to celebrate the facility’s tenth anniversary.

The Magnolia Art Xchange (MAX) will host an Alumni Show on Saturday, March 1, to celebrate ten years in business.

To kick off the day, several current resident artists from the MAX will host a free artist talk at the Appleton Museum of Art (4333 E Silver Springs Blvd) beginning at 11 a.m. The talk is part of “First Free Saturday” at the museum, which allows guests to enter the facility free of charge.

Currently, the Appleton Museum of Art is hosting “To the MAX: Magnolia Art Xchange’s 10-Year Anniversary,” which features art from the MAX’s current resident artists: Rod Acosta, Kendra Brazzel, Joan Elizabeth, Sarah Lajealle, Z Reyes, and Tyrek Studivant. That exhibit is on display within the facility’s second-floor preview gallery.

On Saturday evening, the MAX will host its Alumni Art Show beginning at 6 p.m. The facility is located at 531 NE 1st Avenue, within the Union Station complex.

That show will showcase artwork from several alumni of the MAX, including Drake Arnold, Kyle Corley, Aug Element, Mel Fiorentino, Andres Garcia, Ryan Neumann, and Teddy Sykes.

The artwork will highlight the “growth, experimentation, and unique perspectives” the artists have developed since their residency at the MAX.

The event is free and open to the public.
