A motorcyclist was killed in Marion County on Monday evening, less than ten days after two Ocala riders died in separate motorcycle accidents.
The fatal accident on Monday took place near the intersection of U.S. Highway 301 and County Road 42, near the Marion County/Sumter County line, at around 11:28 p.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 50-year-old man from Penobscot, Maine, was traveling northbound in the left lane of US Hwy 301 when he failed to maintain his lane and struck a concrete curb.
The man then lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn and crash onto the center median of U.S. Hwy 301.
The motorcyclist was trauma alerted to HCA Ocala Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The death comes less than 36 hours after an Ocala man was thrown from his vehicle and killed on State Road 40 in Volusia County.
Another Ocala motorcyclist was killed in Marion County on February 23.
