State Road 200 signs in Ocala

Rotating overnight and daytime lane closures will continue along various stretches of State Road 200 in Ocala this week as construction crews pour concrete curbs, footers, and pedestrian bases.

According to the Florida Department of Transportation, rotating lane closures will be in effect on various stretches of SR 200, from east of Interstate 75 to U.S. 301, through next Sunday.

Daytime closures will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Saturday, April 5. Nighttime closures will be in effect from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night through Sunday, April 6.

Overnight, crews will remove concrete, grade sidewalks, and add curbs. During the day, crews will be installing concrete footers, bases, and curbs along the roadway.

The closures are part of FDOT Project 439234-1, which calls for the implementation of safety and operational enhancements on SR 200, from east of I-75 to S Pine Avenue/US Hwy 301.

The multi-million dollar project, which should be completed later this summer, includes the addition of raised concrete medians and segmented left-turn lanes throughout the corridor.

The state hopes those changes, along with several other improvements and upgrades, will permanently reduce crossover movements to various businesses along the corridor, with the ultimate goal of reducing accidents and traffic-related fatalities.
