Local residents who want to learn about different types of trees and how to identify them by their leaves, as well as help plant a tree and possibly receive one, will have the opportunity to do so for free at a class in an Ocala park this weekend.

The Ocala Recreation and Parks Department will host a Tree-Mendous Trees class as part of its Programs in the Parks series at Scott Springs Park (2825 SW 24th Avenue) on Sunday, April 27, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

During the event, visitors of all ages will participate in visiting an upland pine community and helping to plant a tree.

The organization will also be giving away trees and pollinator plants on a first come, first served basis.
