An argument between siblings led to an Ocala man’s arrest after he admitted to shattering the windshield of his sister’s vehicle.

On Thursday, May 1, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a local residence in reference to a criminal mischief incident. A female victim had informed MCSO that her brother, Michael Rodriguez-Torres, hit her vehicle’s front windshield during an argument that occurred outside his home, according to the arrest report.

Upon arrival at the residence, the deputy made contact with Rodriguez-Torres, who confirmed that he had gotten into an argument with the victim. The report stated that Rodriguez-Torres admitted to “smashing” the victim’s front windshield with his hand during the verbal altercation because he was “upset.”

No further details were provided in the report regarding what led to the argument.

The victim was also at the incident location, and she informed the deputy that she wanted to press charges due to the damage to her vehicle, which was estimated at $500.

Rodriguez-Torres was placed under arrest and transported to Marion County Jail, where he is currently being held on a $1,000 bond. He is being charged with criminal mischief (over $200 but less than $1,000 in damages).

A court date for Rodriguez-Torres has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
