Multiple suspects were arrested this afternoon after they allegedly robbed a bank in Ocala, led police on a car chase, rolled their vehicle into a retention pond, and were part of an officer-involved shooting.
The Ocala Police Department reported the bank robbery and subsequent chase on Thursday afternoon, citing a heavy police presence in the 4400 block of SE Maricamp Road, next to the Southern Pig and Cattle restaurant, at around 1:45 p.m.
According to OPD, several suspects committed a robbery at the TD Bank on SE 17th Street before leading police on a chase.
That chase ended when the suspects’ vehicle rolled into a retention pond. OPD says that after the chase, officers became involved in a shooting.
“No officers were injured. Multiple suspects are in custody,” reads a statement from OPD. The department says that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting.
No additional details were provided by OPD.
Over the weekend, a former Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested just 10 minutes after she allegedly attempted to rob a bank in Ocala.
