Historic Homesteading

The Fort King National Historic Landmark’s series of historic cooking and crafting classes is set to return this weekend, with a special class on loom weaving.

The next installment in the Historic Homesteading series will take place on Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Fort King National Historic Landmark (3925 E Fort King Street, Ocala).

During Saturday’s class, participants will learn the art of loom weaving to make a small purse or pouch that they will be able to bring home. A choice of fabric will be offered and each participant is welcome to bring their own fabric.

All classes are open to adults (ages 13 and up), and there is a $20 fee to participate.

For those unable to make Saturday’s class, the next installment of the series will be a Loom a Rag Rug class on June 14.
