Every school year, graduating high school seniors in the Ocala area perform academic and athletic feats that make their hometown, and its residents, proud.
As we approach the end of the school year, we know there are thousands of stories that we did not have the resources to cover this year.

Here are a few of the stories from this school year that we did highlight. Share your words of encouragement with these stellar Ocala students in a comment below:
- Angelina Kovalchuk – A senior at Vanguard High School who has set her sights on a career in the field of neuroscience, Kovalchuk was awarded a prestigious National Merit Scholarship in May.
- Natalie Nelson – A senior at West Port High School who maintains a 4.7 grade point average and holds several track records, Nelson is attending the United States Military Academy at West Point, where she will compete in Division 1 track events as part of Team Army.
- Jonathan Ancrum – A senior at Belleview High School who ranked second in his class of 500, Ancrum earned a full-ride scholarship to Dartmouth University. A long-distance runner, Ancrum was an officer for multiple organizations at his high school, including vice president of the school’s National Honors Society chapter.
- James Beauregard – A senior at Vanguard High School, Beauregard earned a full-ride scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania. Outside of multiple leadership positions and stellar academics, Beauregard is a first degree black belt in Taekwondo and a past state champion who also plays piano and writes his own music.
- Sophie Goldstein – A senior at Forest High School who has won multiple statewide rowing races, Goldstein maintains a 4.7 GPA and will continue her career at one of the best women’s college rowing programs at UCLA.
