Ocala police are asking the public for help in identifying the suspect(s) responsible for firing multiple shots within close proximity of a park where children were training.
Ocala Police Department units responded to the 100 block of SW 13th Avenue on Sunday, June 1, after hearing multiple shots fired in the area.
Upon arrival, officers discovered several shell casings along the avenue.
No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting, according to OPD.
The incident took place near the intersection of the roadway and W Silver Springs Boulevard, across from Webb Field at the Martin Luther King Recreation Complex in west Ocala.
Multiple parents and children were at a football training event at the park at the time of the shooting. Witnesses say the shooting caused a chaotic scene, with individuals attempting to flee the area.
One witness mentioned possibly seeing the gunshots fired from a sport utility vehicle, although this information has not been confirmed with OPD.
