Marion County Public Schools announced leadership changes at four more local schools.
Marion County Public Schools Interim Superintendent Dr. Danielle Brewer announced the changes in a press release issued on Wednesday morning.
The schools cited in the release are East Marion Elementary School, Harbour View Elementary School, Madison Street Academy, and Lake Weir Middle School.
At East Marion, Dr. John Pope is being promoted from assistant principal to principal, marking his first principalship. Pope joined the district in 2011 and replaces Sarah Dobbs, who is taking over the office of principal at Oakcrest Elementary.
At Harbour View, Jennifer Pollard is being promoted from assistant principal to principal, also marking her first time in the role. According to MCPS, Pollard has been with the district for 21 years. She replaces Stacy Houston, who is voluntarily transitioning to a reading coach position at another school.
At Lake Weir Middle, Dr. Brian Green will take the reigns as principal, replacing Jason Jacobs, who becomes principal at Lake Weir High School.
Finally, Madison Street Academy will lose its principal, Dr. John Kerley, who is transitioning to become the Director of Student Discipline at the district level. His replacement will be announced at a later date, according to the district.
The changes for all the leadership positions will go into effect on July 1, 2025.
Earlier this month, the district announced leadership changes at six other schools in the area. Additionally, two more principals were announced before that for the new elementary schools that will open in August.
