To the Editor:
I have been an Ocala resident for over 50 years and have watched our local leaders rubber stamping so many projects that are beneficial only to themselves and the companies they are in line with.
A local councilman is running unopposed yet has 36,000 in his campaign fund. He is a CEO of a local construction company. His donors have interest in construction, restaurants, hotels, real-estate, engineering, etc. This is just little bitty Ocala. It’s been going on all over this country. It’s nothing new. Why would they be against growth?
Right now, our housing inventory is overstocked with more subdivisions and apartments coming out of the ground with complete disregard to our infrastructure.
Finally, they are discussing impact fees which will only get passed on to the homeowner. I don’t see how a young couple with children can afford a decent new or used home.
We can’t blame the politicians, we can blame the apathetic voters that continue to sit by and do nothing but complain.
