To the Editor:
In regards to so many pedestrian accidents, especially at night, apparently people don’t know they should walk facing traffic. I learned that in early elementary school, probably first grade, up north.
Plus, to wear highly visible clothing at night. And they should ride their bicycles in the direction of traffic.
Several times, I have nearly run into a cyclist because they were riding at me and I didn’t catch them. Drivers are not used to anything coming at them and cyclists catch you by surprise.
This letter was to just comment on pedestrians, but the bicycle riders also need to be educated.
Maybe when the police see people walking or riding the wrong way, they should pull them over and tell them. It would be for everyone’s safety.
