An Ocala man was arrested several days after allegedly leading Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies on a high-speed chase that reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour.
On Monday, August 4, an MCSO deputy was patrolling the area of Baseline Road and Maricamp Road in Ocala when a motorcycle was observed traveling southbound on Baseline Road. The motorcycle did not have rear lights, according to the arrest report.
The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the motorcycle’s rider – later identified as Pascual Sanchez Irizarry – allegedly refused to stop. The report stated that Sanchez Irizarry “turned back to look at [the deputy]” before he accelerated, reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour on Baseline Road.
Additional MCSO units responded to the area, and the motorcycle was spotted near the intersection of Baseline Road and Hanes Road in Belleview. According to the report, the motorcycle made an abrupt U-turn in the grass median, and the deputies lost sight of it.
During a search of the area, deputies found the motorcycle in a mobile home park. The motorcycle was abandoned near a lot with the engine still running, and a search of the license plate revealed that it had been reported stolen out of Sumter County.
One of the deputies spoke with a resident who advised that a man, Sanchez Irizarry, regularly rode the motorcycle. According to the resident, Sanchez Irizarry “has had [the motorcycle] for a while now.”
A computer search of Sanchez Irizarry revealed that his driver’s license was suspended in March of 2025. After seeing Sanchez Irizarry’s license photo, a deputy noted in the report that he was “the same person” who had been observed riding the stolen motorcycle.
Sanchez Irizarry was located and placed under arrest on Thursday, August 7. He remains in custody on a $5,500 bond, and he is facing the following charges: grand theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing to elude a law enforcement officer, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
A court date for Sanchez Irizarry has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
