Registration is now open for the 2025 Citizens Academy, which will take local residents on an in depth, multi-week tour of the internal operations of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy and Partnership program will offer a 7-week educational course beginning in September.
Classes will be held at the MCSO multi-purpose room (3300 NW 10th Street, Ocala) every Tuesday and Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The first class will occur on September 23.
During the program, MCSO staff will highlight all of the units within the sheriff’s office. All attendees will have a chance to develop an in-depth understanding of the agency’s responsibilities and actions in the community. Each class will focus on a different aspect of the agency, including personnel, equipment, policies, procedures, and overall functions.
Classes will also provide opportunities for students to view speciality equipment and hear from experts in law enforcement, investigations, detention, and administration for the sheriff’s office.
