A new Wawa will officially open its doors in south Ocala next week, marking the eighth location in the city for the gas station chain.

The Wawa at 5200 S Pine Avenue will open for business on Thursday, August 21. The new location is situated at the intersection of U.S. Highway 441 and SE 52nd Street, just south of the Ocala Drive-In. It is at the same intersection as a Circle K and a BP gas station.

According to a press release from the company, the new location will host a ribbon-cutting event at 7:45 a.m., beginning with a countdown to the doors opening.

During its opening, the gas station will offer free t-shirts to the first 100 customers. Additionally, free, hot coffee will be offered at the facility through August 24.

Currently, there are seven Wawa locations across the city of Ocala. Less than a year ago, the gas station chain opened its seventh location in the city at 2277 SW Highway 484. That property with that gas station was eventually sold in March of this year.

The company opened its sixth location along State Road 200 in February 2024, its fifth location at 3080 SE Maricamp Road in February 2020, its fourth gas station at 4025 SW College Road in 2019, and its first three gas stations in Ocala simultaneously in 2019 at 1001 S Pine Avenue, 3601 E Silver Springs Boulevard, and 3312 W Silver Springs Boulevard.

As of the beginning of this month, there are over 1,100 Wawa locations across the United States. In Florida, there are currently more than 300 locations.
