Over 2,100 votes have already been cast for Tuesday’s special election for the mayor and one of the seats on the Ocala City Council, with the vast majority of those votes coming in by way of mail.

Polls open on Tuesday, September 16, at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

As of 4:30 p.m. on Monday, September 15, the Marion County Supervisor of Elections’ website reports that approximately 2,103 voters have cast their votes in the election.

That figure includes approximately 137 early votes that were cast on September 11, 12, and 13. The remaining votes (i.e., 1,966) were cast via mail, according to county records.

The city held early voting at the Marion County Election Center from September 11 to September 13.

For Tuesday’s regular election, there are 16 polling locations open across the city of Ocala:

Running for Mayor of Ocala are incumbent Ben Marciano and challenger Arbor Feliciano. Marion County Supervisor of Elections’ records show that Marciano has raised approximately $19,250 in campaign contributions to Feliciano’s $418.

For the District 3 seat, challengers Mark W. Clark and TamBoura Jenkins are running against incumbent Jay A. Musleh. County records show that Clark has raised approximately $10,891.87 in campaign contributions, Jenkins has raised $1,843.46, and Musleh has raised $25,675.

The special election in Ocala was scheduled after all of the candidates for the regular election were disqualified for not paying their qualifying fees in accordance with state law.
