A mother from Columbia County is grateful to Ocala Police Department officers after they helped her with her family's car troubles.

A mother from Columbia County who was traveling with her twins and sister on Interstate 75 says that when the family’s car began acting up, they pulled over in Ocala, where Ocala Police Department officers pushed the car to safety, diagnosed the problem, and drove them to get a part to fix the vehicle.

On Saturday, Haley Morgan, her sister, and her twin children were on their way back home to Lake City after attending their cousin’s first birthday party in Lakeland.

While the family was traveling along I-75 in Morgan’s sister’s vehicle, the car started acting strange and losing power.

Morgan says that the family got off at an Ocala exit on the highway, parked, and were helped by a “very nice gentleman” who called the Ocala Police Department.

Police officers arrived immediately and helped push the car out of the roadway and into a local gas station.

“The Ocala Police Department was so sweet, they helped us in every way that they could,” says Morgan.

The mother says about five officers were trying to diagnose the car, making sure the children and women were in an air conditioned, safe place.

When they determined that the battery had died and the car was running on its alternator, they helped Morgan’s sister get an alternator for the vehicle.

Morgan says she didn’t know what the family would have done without the help of local officers.

“We were so far out from home and had nobody that could help us that was close, but Ocala Police Department officers did,” said Morgan. “We are so blessed that they all showed up for us.”

Morgan says that she did not get the names of the officers, but wanted to share the story with Ocala-News.com to thank the Ocala Police Department.

“We want to do a big shout out to the Ocala Police Department for helping us in a time of need. Thank you all so much,” said Morgan.
