Two Marion County Fire Rescue recruits, including one who is expecting the birth of his first child in the coming days, were injured in an accident near a local Walmart.
According to MCFR, the two recruits were involved in a motor vehicle accident on Saturday, September 27, near the Walmart located at 11012 N Williams Street in Dunnellon.
After the incident, both individuals were transported to a local trauma hospital.
One of the men, 27-year-old Daebrun Sparks, sustained multiple severe injuries in the crash, including a brain bleed, a damaged aorta, a lacerated kidney, a lacerated liver, a fractured hip, and several broken bones.

Sparks is currently being treated in the intensive care unit and authorities say his road to recovery will be “long and painful.”
Sparks’ fiancé, America, is currently pregnant, with the couple expecting their first child in just a matter of days, according to MCFR.
In an update posted to the SpotFund account, America indicated Sparks is still being monitored by doctors, but is “a little more coherent” as of Monday morning.
The family has established a SpotFund account to help with the cost of medical expenses and the arrival of their child.
