A new Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop is coming to Ocala, with construction ongoing at a location along one of the city’s busiest thoroughfares.

The new ice creamery is currently being built at 2708 SW College Road, in southwest Ocala. It is situated between Smoothie King and Ramen House, in a space that was formerly occupied by Haven Smoke Shop and Metro PCS.

As of this month, there are over 7,800 Baskin-Robbins locations across the world and 2,400 locations in in the United States. All of the locations in the U.S. are locally owned and operated.

The new spot in Ocala is owned by Manella Patel, LLC, which is registered to Shaira and Manish Patel of Ocala. The Patels also own the building that houses the other aforementioned businesses.

Ocala building permitting records show that the Patels applied for a building permit in June, received approval in July, and were issued the permit at the beginning of September.

Although Baskin-Robbins’ website lists the location as being open 24 hours, an opening date and hours for the new Ocala ice cream shop have not yet been announced.

Currently, the sole Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop in Ocala is located along East Silver Springs Boulevard, in a space that the business shares with Dunkin’. The new shop on College Road will be occupied solely by the ice cream brand.

Founded in 1945 in Glendale, California by Burton Baskin and Irvine Robbins, the brand has grown to become the largest specialty ice cream franchise in the world, most notably for its 31 flavor varieties.

In the years since, however, multiple ice cream brands have risen in the ranks. In fact, the new Baskin-Robbins in Ocala will be located across the road from a Cold Stone Creamery and just south of a Twistee Treat.
