The Marion County Sheriff’s Office detained an individual for questioning after he fatally shot a victim who was reported for reckless driving shortly before the fatal encounter.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the person responsible for the shooting was brought in for questioning in connection with the incident, which occurred on Thursday, November 6.
Shortly before the person of interest was brought in, MCSO received reports of a reckless driver in the 8200 block of SW 49th Avenue Road at around 6:05 p.m.
As MCSO was responding to those reports, the operator of the vehicle that was reportedly driving recklessly, who MCSO clarified was the victim in the shooting, had stopped the vehicle. The individual, identified solely as male, was then shot by the person of interest.
MCSO was notified of the shooting while they were responding to the reckless driving report and brought the shooter in for questions.
The shooter did not flee the scene and stayed to speak to responding authorities.
According to MCSO, major crimes’ detectives are conducting the investigation into the shooting.
