In an effort to “beautify” the city, Belleview officials are offering new grants to local business owners for painting, professional landscaping, signage, and other façade upgrades that they believe will grow “charm and curb appeal.”
On Monday, the city launched a new “Beautify Belleview: Property Improvement Grant Program” to help local commercial property owners and business tenants enhance their buildings.
In a statement about the program, the city explains that the overall “appearance of buildings” and other physical improvements can play a “significant role in the public’s general impression” of Belleview.
“The City of Belleview developed the Property Improvement Grant Program on the belief that improvements to physical properties within the corporate city limits will promote the attraction and retention of quality businesses to the city, promote economic growth for the city, and provide a positive impact to all property values in the city,” reads the statement.
Through the program, eligible property owners and business tenants (with owner approval) can apply to possibly receive up to $2,500 in grant funding. Those funds would be paid directly to licensed service providers completing pre-approved improvement projects.
Potential projects include exterior painting, entryway updates, murals, lighting upgrades, new signage, and professional landscaping. The city says that work on the project cannot begin until the grant approval is received.
“The city is here to help make your improvement project possible without the financial burden upfront,” reads the statement.
