To the Editor:
My friend and I live in a mobile home park in Silver Springs. A few years ago, the property was taken over by SPE LLC, a corporation out of Sacramento, California.
Before they took over, our lot rent was around $327 a month. Since this company has taken over, our lot rent has increased to a point where we feel in a few years, we won’t be able to afford it.
We recently received a letter saying our lot rent would be going up to $600 a month for “insurance” and “property tax.”
It’s nothing more then greed. There are quite a few elderly people on fixed incomes here, and they can’t afford it.
I recently saw a story on a local news station about this happening in other mobile home communities as well. Something needs to be done.
These greedy corporations are getting rich off of hard-working people and senior citizens. It’s pathetic.
