A Silver Springs man accused of soliciting a 15-year-old boy for sex is facing additional charges after he allegedly tried to shoot Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies with a shotgun during his arrest.
Back in October of 2025, MCSO launched an investigation into 37-year-old Christopher Sherman David Mchellon in reference to allegations that he had sent “explicit photos of his genitalia” to a 15-year-old male victim, according to the sheriff’s office.
During the ensuing investigation, a detective allegedly determined that Mchellon had provided the victim with money, drugs, or alcohol in an attempt to entice the victim to engage in sexual activities.
Electronic devices belonging to Mchellon were seized by investigators, and several “sexually graphic photos” were found, which Mchellon had allegedly sent to the victim.
Probable cause was established for Mchellon’s arrest, and deputies responded to his home located in the 3400 block of NE 55th Avenue on Friday, January 16. When deputies arrived on-scene, Mchellon was “standing within the door frame of his residence,” and deputies eventually convicted him to step outside, according to the arrest report.
When Mchellon was informed that he was being placed under arrest, he allegedly ran inside his home and got into a physical altercation with one of the deputies. The report stated that Mchellon allegedly grabbed a shotgun that was resting on a nearby wall, but the firearm was knocked to the ground.
According to the report, one of the deputies tasered Mchellon twice in an attempt to “gain control,” though Mchellon allegedly continued to resist arrest. Moments later, several deputies managed to get Mchellon onto the ground, though the shotgun was within his reach.
Mchellon allegedly grabbed the shotgun, and a deputy responded by striking Mchellon’s face. Mchellon allegedly maintained his grip on the shotgun, with his finger “on the trigger,” though the report said that deputies managed to seize the shotgun before it could be fired.
An MCSO corporal noted in the report that Mchellon stated that he “hated law enforcement.” Mchellon also allegedly admitted that he wanted to shoot the deputies during the incident.
Mchellon was placed under arrest and booked into Marion County Jail, where he remains in custody without bond. He is being charged with human trafficking for commercial sexual activity, transmission of harmful material to a minor, use of a computer to solicit a child, use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony, three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, and resisting arrest without violence.
Jail records show that Mchellon is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17.
“Given the circumstances of Mchellon’s contact with the juvenile victim, detectives believe there may be additional victims,” said MCSO in a media release. “If you have been victimized by Mchellon or have any information relevant to this case, please call Detective Rivera at 352-732-9111.”
