Loretta A. Laurin, nee Mueller and formerly Downie, 89 years old, of Dunnellon, formerly
of Ocala, FL, Medford, MA and Nashua, NH passed away on May 6, 2026 at home in
Dunnellon surrounded by loving family.
Loretta was born in Bangor, ME to Charles Mueller and Agnes Mueller (nee Keene).
Loretta spent her early years in Lisbon Falls, ME and moved to Medford, MA while in
elementary school. She attended Medford High School and worked in her father’s
restaurant for many years. After raising her 7 children she worked as a medical records
clerk for a number of years.
Loretta is survived by her children Richard C. Downie (Ramona), Ellen J. Mathews,
Keith A. Downie (Linda), Robert B. Downie (Julie), Elizabeth A. Ganley (Scott), and
Loretta A. Blackmon (Brad). She is also survived by her brother Manfred (Lenny)
Mueller and sister Laurie Fiste as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Loretta was predeceased by her husband of 49 years Robert S. Downie and George
Laurin to whom she was married for three years. She was also predeceased by her son
David B, Downie (Cathy), son-in-law Jeffrey J. Mathews, sister Lorraine Sharples and
brother Mervin (Lanny) Mueller, and several grandchildren.
Loretta traveled the world with her husband Robert and was devoted to her family. She
was an incredible cook and baker but loved nothing more than being surrounded by her
family. She will be missed dearly by all.
Funeral services will be private.
