The state has officially revoked the license of an Ocala-based certified nursing assistant after she entered a plea to a felony drug charge in Marion County.
The Florida Department of Health Board of Nursing revoked the license of Monica S. Kerrison, in a final order issued on May 12. The revocation stems from an administrative complaint filed in late 2025 following a criminal case in the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court.
According to state records, on July 29, 2024, Kerrison entered a plea of nolo contendere to one count of possession of methamphetamine, which is classified as a felony offense.
Florida law provides that entering such a plea to an offense prohibited under the state’s background screening standards, including felony violations related to drug abuse prevention and control, constitutes grounds for disciplinary action against a nursing assistant’s license.
Kerrison was present at a public meeting held in St. Petersburg in April to address the matter. However, the Board determined that she had waived her right to a hearing involving disputed facts because she failed to file a timely response to the original administrative complaint.
As a result, the allegations regarding her felony plea were deemed admitted.
In addition to the permanent revocation of her license, Kerrison was ordered to return her physical license to the Department of Health’s Compliance Management Unit within 30 days. The Board also mandated that she immediately inform her employer of the revocation in writing.
Kerrison’s address of record is listed in Ocala. While the Department of Health initially moved to assess investigative and prosecution costs against her, that motion was withdrawn during the proceedings.
