The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has launched a homicide investigation into the son of a deceased man whose remains were found on a property in Dunnellon.

Deputies opened a missing person investigation into 43-year-old Andres Bahamon-Prada on Saturday, May 16. At the time, a relative informed authorities that Bahamon-Prada had been missing for nearly ten days since May 7.

As the investigation progressed, deputies uncovered physical evidence indicating that foul play was involved in his disappearance, prompting officials to reclassify the case as a homicide.

On Monday, May 18, Major Crimes detectives extended their investigation to a residence located at 2180 NW 225th Avenue in Dunnellon.

While searching the property, detectives discovered male human remains. Forensic teams are currently working to positively identify the body.

Detectives have named the missing man’s 25-year-old son, Andres Bahamon, as a person of interest in his father’s disappearance.

Following interviews and information gathered at the scene, Bahamon was arrested on Monday and charged with tampering with evidence in connection to the ongoing investigation.

Authorities also revealed that Bahamon-Prada’s vehicle, a silver 2007 Infiniti M35, is unaccounted for. Investigators believe the missing car could hold crucial evidence tied to the case.

Anyone with information regarding the location of the silver Infiniti or who may have knowledge of who last possessed the vehicle is strongly urged to contact the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at 352-732-9111.
