Following an official groundbreaking earlier this year, a major site plan for the new 141,000-square-foot middle school was recently presented to county officials.
A major site plan for the new, $63 million campus, which is designated in county records as Middle School “DD,” was introduced to the Marion County Development Review Committee during its regular meeting on Monday, June 1.
According to the engineering and architectural schematics, the campus will be situated on a 30.09-acre property located at 685 Oak Road in Ocala. It sits just over a mile northwest of Lake Weir High School and just over a mile northeast of Emerald Shores Elementary School.

The design features a three-story, 141,000-square-foot facility engineered to accommodate more than 1,400 students. Once fully constructed, the school will house 43 classrooms, a gymnasium, a cafeteria, and an auditorium.
The extensive outdoor portion of the campus plan outlines comprehensive athletic and recreational facilities, including a full outdoor running track, alongside dedicated fields for baseball, softball, and soccer.
The architectural design for the project was handled by PBK and Harvard Jolly, which was approved for the contract in 2024.

Global construction firm Skanska is leading the physical development of the campus under a contract valued at around $63 million.
Skanska, which was prequalified for major construction projects for Marion County Public Schools last year, employs over 32,000 individuals worldwide.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the new middle school was held at the site in April. According to project records, construction is currently slated for completion in late June 2027, allowing the brand-new campus to formally open its doors to students for the start of the August 2027 school year.
