A well-being check in Marion County led to DUI charges for a Georgia woman who allegedly admitted to visiting several liquor stores before her vehicle ran out of gas on Highway 40.

On Thursday, July 9, at around 7:50 p.m., a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to the 27900 block of E Highway 40 in Silver Springs after receiving a call from a concerned mother. The mother explained that a vehicle being driven by her daughter, 35-year-old Hannah Rae Ishii, had stopped along Highway 40, and Ishii was not answering her cellphone, according to the arrest report.

The deputy noted that Ishii was heading back to Georgia. In addition, she reportedly struggled with alcohol consumption, and she was previously convicted of DUI offenses in 2017 and 2025.

Upon arriving at the roadside location, the deputy observed Ishii sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle, where she was pushing buttons on the steering wheel while the car remained in “accessories only” mode, according to the report.

Ishii exited the vehicle and told the deputy that she had run out of fuel. The report mentioned that Ishii had a “very strong odor of alcohol,” and she allegedly had difficulty standing up. When asked if she had been drinking, Ishii reportedly admitted to drinking at her parents’ house earlier in the day before stopping at several liquor stores and visiting a few spots on the beach to “relax and drink.”

According to the report, the deputy allegedly saw an empty alcohol container and snack bags scattered across the floorboard and seat inside Ishii’s vehicle. The deputy further stated that Ishii was barefoot, and she was unable to locate her shoes or driver’s license.

The deputy led Ishii to a flat section of the roadway to perform field sobriety exercises. The report mentioned that Ishii failed several of the exercises before telling the deputy that she did not want to continue because she “already knows what’s happening.”

After reportedly refusing to provide a breath sample, Ishii was placed under arrest and transported to Marion County Jail. She remains in custody on a $3,000 bond, and she is facing the following charges: driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (third violation within 10 years) and refusal to submit to DUI testing.

On Tuesday, August 11, Ishii is scheduled to appear in a Marion County courtroom at 9 a.m., according to jail records.
