Visiting youth minister reports vehicle burglary at Ocala church

A visiting youth minister reported a vehicle burglary on Tuesday at an Ocala church.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to the Church of Christ located at 1921 NE 35 St. in reference to a vehicle burglary, according to an incident report. The deputy made contact with the victim, who stated that he was a a first-time visiting youth minister from Lake City, the report stated. He stated that he attended bible study from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. within the church. His vehicle, a 2015 black, four-door Nissan was in the parking lot with all doors locked. As he walked outside around 8:30 p.m., he observed his rear passenger window to be shattered and immediately saw two backpacks missing. The first backpack, which belonged to the victim, was a black Jansport valued at $60, containing a $60 algebra book and miscellaneous school supplies valued at $30. The second backpack was pink and blue striped valued at $60, and contained $50 in cash and miscellaneous school work.

No other items were missing.
