Marion County sheriff’s deputies recover stolen truck in Summerfield

Nicholas Britton

A man was arrested on Wednesday in Summerfield after stealing a vehicle out of Pasco County.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies were called for service at 14630 SE 87th Court in Summerfield in reference to assisting Pasco County Sheriff’s Office with a stolen vehicle. PCSO generated a report of a stolen silver 2005 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck and contacted MCSO due to the truck’s GPS pinging at the responded location.

Deputies spoke with people inside the residence and learned that 35-year-old Nicholas Robert Britton had the stolen vehicle. An eyewitness told deputies that when Britton arrived at the residence, he said he stole the vehicle. While conducting an inventory of the stolen vehicle, deputies located several piece of mens’ clothing that the owner of the pickup truck said did not belong to him. A pair of jeans shorts found in the vehicle appeared to be the same size as Britton would wear.

Britton has had a prior arrest for grand theft of a motor vehicle in Hernando County. He also had a grand theft conviction in 2011.

He was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail. Bond was set at $2,000.
