A pedestrian was killed late Thursday night when he was struck by a pickup truck in Marion County.
Michael Robert Gassner, 31, of Orange Lake, was pronounced dead at the scene near the intersection of County Road 318 and NW 67th Court. He allegedly was struck by a 2002 Ford F-250 pickup driven by 28-year-old Justin Wayne Walters of Williston, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
The investigation is continuing and charges are pending, the FHP report says, adding that it’s not clear if alcohol played a role in the incident.
