Violent confrontation over threat to pour out Busch beer lands Ocala man behind bars

Joseph Gary Dearinger

An Ocala man was arrested early Sunday afternoon after a violent battle ensued over poured-out drinks.

At woman at a home on NW 38th Avenue told Marion County sheriff’s deputies that an argument started when 69-year-old Joseph Gary Dearinger poured her soda on the bedroom floor. She said she retaliated by opening a can of Busch beer to pour it out and Dearinger stood up from the couch and ran at her, a sheriff’s office report states.

The woman said Dearinger took the beer from her and pushed her to the ground. She walked a deputy through how the incident occurred. And it was noted in the report that the woman had bruising on her arm and a small, superficial scrape with torn skin and blood on her elbow.

Dearinger denied pushing the woman. He said she was pouring out one of his beers and when he retrieved it from her hands, she “fell to the ground on her own,” the report says.
Dearinger was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with domestic battery and held on $500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on Nov. 20 at 8 a.m.

Dearinger is no stranger to the Marion County legal system. In August 2013, he was arrested and charged with simple assault with a threat to do violence.
