A 31-year-old Umatilla man with previous arrests on drug and burglary charges is being held in the Marion County Jail after being accused of strangling a woman in a domestic dispute.
William Alan Labree, 31, of Southeast 216th Avenue, was arrested Tuesday night and charged with committing domestic battery by strangulation.
The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that Labree started a verbal argument with her and then grabbed her by the throat, impeding her ability to breathe, and slammed her up against her bedroom door frame and said he would kill her. She said Labree threw something at her as he was leaving, but it hit the front door as she was closing it.
A witness who was outside the residence said he heard Labree screaming about killing the victim as he came towards the home. He later saw Labree throw a water bottle that hit the front door as the victim closed it.
The deputy saw redness on the victim’s neck and recovered a damaged water bottle inside the front door.
Labree has been arrested four times since 2011 on charges including manufacturing methamphetamine, tampering with evidence, possession of a controlled substance (Vicodin), burglary, grand theft and violating probation. He’s being held on $5,000 bond after his latest arrest. His next date in Marion County Court is set for Feb. 29.
