Marion County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Belleview man Sunday morning after a woman reported being restrained, kidnapped and strangled in a local motel room.
On Saturday, deputies responded to Room 12 at the Vin-Mar Motel, located at 5018 Abshier Blvd., but then met the victim next door at a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant. The woman told deputies that 49-year-old Kenneth Ellison Hudson had allegedly restrained her using duct tape around her throat, mouth and hands to keep her leaving the motel room. She also claimed that Hudson used his hand and duct tape to strangle her, which she said interfered with her breathing to the point she almost lost consciousness, a sheriff’s office report states.
The woman said the incident started when Hudson got upset with her and accused her of “talking to other people.” She said Hudson started calling her names and she then told him she was leaving, the report says.
The woman said Hudson refused to let her leave and “grabbed her by the face, forced her down on the bed and restrained her with duct tape around her throat, mouth and hands.” Then he sat on top of her and spit on her while calling her derogatory names, the report says.
The woman said that after about 20 minutes, Hudson removed the duct tape after she “calmed down enough.” She said he wouldn’t let her go outside to smoke a cigarette and she could only leave she pretended to go to be asleep after Hudson went to bed. She then snuck out of the room and called law enforcement, the report says.
Deputies noted visible dark bruises on both sides of the woman’s throat and under her jaw. And they noted marks on her neck that “appeared consistent with thread marks seen in duct tape,” the report says.
Hudson, who listed the Vin-Mar Motel as his residence, was taken into custody Sunday morning in the 3900 block of S Pine Avenue. He was transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with false imprisonment, domestic battery by strangulation and a violation of probation on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. He was being on $10,000 bond on the new charges and no bond on the probation violation.
