Cigarette-toting Ocala woman jailed after man claims she burned his cheek

Tina Rene Napoli

Marion County sheriff’s deputies were called to an Ocala home early Wednesday morning after a nasty battle that included cigarette burns to a man’s face.

When deputies arrived at the residence, located at NW 112th Avenue, a man told them that he had been sitting on his couch ignoring 46-year-old Tina Rene Napoli because she was “acting irrational.” The man said Napoli then lit a cigarette and allegedly intentionally burned his right cheek twice, causing visible injury. The man added that he had no idea what caused Napoli to “act out,” a sheriff’s office report states.

Napoli told deputies that the man had gotten upset at her for an unknown reason and had threatened to “throw lighter fluid on her and set her on fire.” She also claimed that the man had punched her in her left arm “for no apparent reason,” the report states, adding that Napoli had no visible injuries and also claimed the man burned himself.

Deputies noted that both Napoli and the victim “appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and neither would say what caused the argument to start.”

Napoli was arrested on a charge of domestic battery and transported to the Marion County Jail. She was released late Thursday night on $1,000 bond and is due to appear in a Lake County courtroom on March 20 at 1 p.m. to answer to the charge.
