Crews from Marion County Fire Rescue were called to a structure fire this past week that’s being blamed on a lightning strike.
Firefighters received a call for help this past Thursday at 8:48 a.m. from a caller who reported the blaze. When crews arrived at the two-story structure, located in the 9000 block of SE 117th Street Rd., they encountered smoke and flames coming from the second story of the building.
Crews arrived on scene at 8:55 a.m. and went to work to protect exposures and extinguish the fire. The fire, which was blamed on lightning from a story cell passing through Marion County, was called under control at 9:22 a.m.
