Marion Oaks trespasser opts to go to Marion County Jail

Aviston Donnavan Chase

A 40-year-old Ocala man spent a night in the Marion County Jail for trespassing at the Marion Oaks Community Center.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to the center, at 294 Marion Oaks Lane, where the reporting party said Aviston Donnavan Chase had been previously trespassed and was now on the property at the basketball court.

The deputy verified Chase’s identity and told him he was trespassing and would be issued a Notice to Appear (NTA). Chase, whose address is listed as 6304 SW 131st St. Road, told the deputy he didn’t want an NTA and if he was under arrest, he just wanted to be taken to jail, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The deputy explained to Chase the meaning of a Notice to Appear, and he still refused to be issued the NTA and said he understood he would be going to jail. Chase, who had been issued a trespass warning the previous day, was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released Friday with credit for time served.
