61-year-old man in spat over diapers and sex accused of stabbing woman

Danny Wade Roberts

A 61-year-old Ocala man was arrested after allegedly stabbing a woman with a pair of scissors and twice more with a pen.

Danny Wade Roberts was charged with aggravated domestic battery with a deadly weapon after the incident, which happened Sunday afternoon at a home on SW 79th Terrace, where he lives with the victim.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy she was upset with Roberts because he kept urinating on the floor instead of using his diapers. She said Roberts was yelling at her and demanding she have sexual intercourse with him, so she started to walk out of the bedroom, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said Roberts came up from behind her and stabbed her on the left shoulder area with a pair of black scissors. She said she was able to get the scissors away from Roberts, but he approached her again from behind in the kitchen and stabbed her two more times in the left shoulder with a pen. The victim said she was able to get way from Roberts and call for law enforcement, the report said.

The deputy observed three small puncture marks on the victim’s left shoulder with a small amount of blood coming from them. One of the marks was larger than the other two, according to the report.

Roberts told the deputy he woke up and tried to get out of bed. He said the victim wouldn’t let him out of bed and began striking him in the stomach area. He said she was holding him down on the bed, grabbed his keys out of his hand and told him he couldn’t go anywhere, the report said.

When asked if he ever had scissors in his possession during the incident, Roberts said he grabbed a pair of scissors that were on the nightstand beside the bed. He denied stabbing her with the scissors or a pen, and he said he didn’t know how the victim got the puncture marks on her shoulder. The deputy did not observe any marks on Roberts’ stomach area where he said he was struck by the victim, according to the report.

Roberts was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he’s being held on $2,000 bond. He’s scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on Aug. 6.
