Ocala man accused of body slamming woman during nasty spat

Anthony Faulconer

An Ocala man is being held without bail in the Marion County Jail after being accused of body slamming a woman during a violent domestic spat.

Anthony Faulconer, 37, was charged with simple domestic battery after the incident, which happened early Sunday. He’ll appear in Marion County Court on Aug. 16.

Ocala Police responded around 2:36 a.m. to a home on SE 33rd Ave, where the victim was being evaluated for injuries to her right ear. The victim refused to tell a male officer how she received her injuries, and a female officer was called to scene to talk to her, according to the police report.

While waiting for the female officer to arrive, the reporting party told the officer that her sister had knocked on the door crying and bleeding from her right ear. The victim told her that “her husband beat her again,” but refused to say anything else about the incident. The witness said this wasn’t the first time a situation like this has happened and that her sister refused to inform law enforcement about the ongoing abuse she receives from Faulconer, the report said.

Speaking to the female officer, the victim said the incident occurred when she was talking to her daughter, and something she said to her daughter caused Faulconer to become extremely angry. She said Faulconer started screaming and then picked her up by the waist and slammed her to the floor. The victim said she landed on the floor on the right side of her body and cut her ear. Officers observed a cut on the victim’s right ear and blood on her shirt, neck, and ear, according to the report.

Officers then went to Faulconer’s residence on SE 13th Street, where they couldn’t make contact with anyone inside. Using a key provided by the victim, officers went inside and found Faulconer asleep in the master bedroom. Faulconer was advised of his Miranda rights and he declined to speak to officers about the incident, the report said.

Later Sunday, the victim’s daughter told an officer that both the victim and Faulconer were drinking the previous night. She said her mother became upset during the conversation and called her a “bitch,” and that Faulconer heard it and became extremely angry. She said her mother and Faulconer started arguing back and forth, and that she went to bed and didn’t witness the incident. The victim’s daughter said her mother and Faulconer have had physical altercations in the past that were not reported to law enforcement, according to the report.
