Scorned Ocala woman begs scratched and bleeding boyfriend not to leave motel

A 20-year-old Ocala woman who was arguing with her boyfriend of one year about infidelity and a prior incident with a woman in a nearby motel room found herself behind bars early Sunday morning.

Kayleigh Anika Robertson, 20, of Ocala, was arrested early Sunday morning at the Sun Plaza Hotel at 5461 E Silver Springs Blvd. and charged with domestic battery.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies were called to the Sun Plaza Hotel at 5461 E Silver Springs Blvd. in Ocala and when they arrived, they spoke with 20-year-old Kayleigh Anika Robertson and her boyfriend. Robertson claimed another woman at the motel wanted her boyfriend to ingest an unknown drug but said nothing physical had occurred and she wasn’t sure why deputies had responded, a sheriff’s office report states.

The boyfriend said he was involved in a verbal altercation with Robertson, who wanted him to leave the motel and go back to his residence. He said he was putting his boots on to leave when Robertson changed her mind and asked him to stay. And he added that she stepped between him and the door to the motel room and again asked him to stay, the report says.

The boyfriend said he attempted to open the motel room door and Robertson grabbed him by his neck and face while attempting to pull him back inside. He said he was partially outside the door and Robertson continued to grab onto him and asked him to come back inside and lie down, the report says.

The boyfriend said he agreed to stop trying to leave the motel to prevent any further issues and laid down on the bed. He said deputies arrived a short time later and knocked on the room’s door. And he said Robertson asked him multiple times to not open the door to avoid contact with law enforcement, the report says.

After noticing fresh scratch marks on the boyfriend’s neck and face and a fresh abrasion under his left ear with fresh blood, Robertson was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail.

Robertson, who lives at 307 Oak Track Loop in Ocala, was charged with domestic battery and released late Monday morning on $500 bond. She is due in court Sept. 4 at 1 p.m. to answer to the charge.
