Local businesses hosting ‘tattoo fest’ to benefit resident facing health problems

A collection of local businesses are rallying behind a tattoo fest later this month to benefit a resident of Ocala who has been battling health issues and mounting medical bills.

The tattoo fest will take place on Saturday, October 19, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Crawling Panther Tattoo (500 SW 10th St, Ste. 103). It will include food, t-shirts, artwork from local artists, and custom tattoos made for the event.

Crawling Panther Tattoo, which is hosting the event, created a GoFundMe to benefit Brandon “Ziggy” Ziegler last month. Ziegler, who previously worked at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, had been facing health issues in recent weeks before his friends and local business owners stepped in to host the benefit.

Raffle tickets will be sold for $10, with prizes including a $300 gift certificate to Crawling Panther Tattoo, CBD gift basket, scuba lessons, and a massage, among other items.

Ziegler, who celebrated his 40th birthday earlier this spring, has been maintaining a “Save Ziggy” Facebook page with health updates.

“Thank you guys for all the love and support. It has been truly awe inspiring the outpouring of love and support,” said Ziegler in a recent Facebook post.

Multiple local businesses have lent their support for the event, including Death or Glory Tattoo Parlor, The Krafty Kettle, The Mojo Grill, and The Keep Downtown have lent their support to the event, with many of the owners having personal relationships with Ziegler.
