Wall-punching man charged with battering woman

Anthony Bevilacqua

An Ocala man was charged with domestic battery and possession of drug paraphernalia after he allegedly battered a woman during a destructive rampage.

The victim told a sergeant from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office that she and Anthony Bevilacqua, 31, were in a verbal argument at her residence on South Pine Avenue on Sunday when he grabbed her and pushed her against the wall. The victim said Bevilacqua also punched holes in the wall and tore the thermostat off the wall before leaving the location, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The sergeant observed fresh redness on the victim’s chest area, as well as older bruises on her arms that she said were from a prior altercation. The victim’s minor son told the sergeant he heard the couple arguing but wasn’t present for the altercation, the report said.

The sergeant located Bevilacqua at the Sun Days Motel, 3351 S. Pine Avenue. Bevilacqua said nothing happened and denied a physical altercation took place. The sergeant found a metal “smoking pipe” in the back pocket of Bevilacqua’s jeans that he admitted using to smoke crack, according to the report.

Bevilacqua, who was previously arrested on a domestic battery charge in September 2018, taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was being held without bond. He’s scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on Oct. 30.
