Man involved in bizarre incident at Weirsdale minimart jailed after traffic crash

Jeremy Walker

A Leesburg man accused of grabbing a woman at a Weirsdale minimart and then getting into a traffic crash is behind bars in the Marion County Jail.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was called to the Circle K at 13873 SE Hwy. 42 early Sunday morning and when he arrived, the clerk said that a man later identified as 30-year-old Jeremy Walker had been acting strange inside the store.

The clerk said a woman had come into the store to buy cigarettes and Walker followed her outside and put his arms around her. The clerk said it appeared he was attempting to take her cigarettes out of her hand. She said another man came and pulled Walker away and they both left in a white Dodge Charger, a sheriff’s office report states.

The victim told the deputy that Walker was at the Circle K counter with another man and a juvenile when he told her that she was going to give him a ride. She refused and he then put his around her and demanded her keys multiple times. She said Walker followed her to her car and put his arm around her a second time, while still demanding her keys. She said she got away from him and then left the store, the report says.

Walker was located at short time later at a traffic crash at SE Hwy. 42 and SE 155th Avenue. He was in a white Dodge Charter with a Tennessee license tag. He refused to speak with deputies and was transported an area hospital for treatment, the report says.

Walker was booked into the jail Sunday and charged with battery, trafficking MDMA and possession of marijuana and crack cocaine with intent to distribute. He was being held on $61,000 bond and his next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
