A Weirsdale man found himself behind bars Monday after a woman claimed he pushed her to the ground following a verbal altercation and then ordered his dogs to attack her.
Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to the residence on S. Hwy. 25 and spoke with the victim, who said she had been in a battle with 62-year-old Donald Wesley Boorum. Deputies noted that the back and neck regions on her shirt were covered in grass.
The victim told deputies she had been dropped off at the residence by her daughter, who left before the altercation broke out. She said she was attempting to get into their home but Boorum had locked her out, a sheriff’s office report states.
The victim said Boorum eventually opened to the door to the residence and started yelling at her. She said he then pushed her in the chest with both hands and she fell to the ground, landing on her back. She said Boorum then commanded his dogs to attack her by stating, “Kill, kill, kill!” the report says.
Boorum refused to speak with deputies without an attorney present. He was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with battery. He was being held on $500 bond and is due in court Dec. 3 at 8:30 a.m.
