An Ocala woman was arrested after her best friend reported her for allegedly hitting a man with a broomstick during an argument.
Samantha Ashley Chisholm, 33, was charged with simple domestic battery after the incident, which happened last Thursday morning. She was previously arrested and charged with domestic battery in April, according to Marion County Jail records.
Chisholm’s friend told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that Chisholm and the victim were in a verbal argument when Chisholm struck him twice with her fist before they both went inside. The friend said she heard Chisholm tell the victim that she was going to hit him with a broomstick. She said the victim came out of the residence a few minutes later and showed her an injury on his back that looked like it was made with a broomstick, according to the sheriff’s office report.
Chisholm’s friend said she got into the truck with Chisholm and they left the residence. She said Chisholm then decided to go back and arrived as the victim was leaving. The friend said Chisholm said she was going to hit the victim’s truck, and then drove her truck directly at the victim’s truck and stopped just before hitting it, the report said.
Chisholm’s friend said she didn’t like the way Chisholm was acting and driving, so she took the keys out of the ignition. She said Chisholm became angry and told her she was going to beat her up if she didn’t return the keys. The friend said she was not in fear of Chisholm and didn’t feel threatened, according to the report.
The victim returned to the residence and spoke with the deputy. He said Chisholm didn’t strike him with her fist or with a broomstick. The deputy asked to see the victim’s back and observed a fresh injury that was consistent with being struck with a broomstick. The victim said someone struck him with a fishing pole earlier in the morning, according to the report.
Chisholm told the deputy that she and the victim got into a verbal argument and that she never struck him with her fist or a broomstick. When asked about the victim’s injury, she said she went to slam a door and it accidentally hit him. The deputy told her the injury wasn’t consistent with being hit with a door. When informed what her best friend said about the incident, Chisholm said she wasn’t telling the truth, the report said.
Chisholm was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released early Saturday on $1,000 bond. She’ll appear in Marion County Court on Dec. 3.
