Ocala woman wanted on outstanding warrant nabbed with meth-laced syringe

Giselle Cardoso Herdmann

An Ocala woman who was wanted on an outstanding warrant was jailed after a Marion County sheriff’s deputy spotted her on E Silver Springs Boulevard last Wednesday.

The deputy made contact with 45-year-old Giselle Cardoso Herdmann last Wednesday and after she was placed under arrest, he searched an orange-and-purple bag she was carrying. A short time later, the deputy located a syringe containing residue of a brown substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, a sheriff’s office report states.

Herdmann told the deputy she had used the syringe to inject methamphetamine earlier that day. She also confirmed that the brown substance in the syringe was methamphetamine, the report says.

Herdmann was then taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear in court on the same charge from a previous incident. Her bond also was revoked on two previous charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession and/or use of drug equipment. She is being held on $5,000 bond and is due in court Jan. 14 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charges.
