Ocala City Council grants alcoholic beverage permit to Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar

The Ocala City Council gave its blessing Tuesday night to an alcoholic beverage permit for the new Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar.

The eatery, located at 4414 SW College Rd. at Market Street at Heath Brook, was granted permission to sell beer, wine and liquor for on-premise consumption and consumption outside the building. The 3,229-square-foot restaurant has 93 seats and eight employees, with hours from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Saturday.

Shuckin’ Shack is located within 500 feet of several other alcoholic beverage establishments. Those include Cheddar’s, Tijuana Flats, Gators Dockside, Five Star Pizza, Crazy Cucumber, Edo Sushi & Japanese Steakhouse, Painting With A Twist, Mimi’s Café, Las Margaritas, Azulene Day Spa and Epic Theater.

The Shuckin’ Shack permit will be provisional for three months, upon which time the applicants can request they be extended an additional three months. During the provisional period, the restaurant must provide to the city’s building department copies of the vendor’s state-issued alcoholic beverage license. If that doesn’t happen, or if the name on the state-issued license isn’t the same as the name of the permit holder, the permit will be voided. Otherwise, it will become fully issued.
