Dad once accused of threatening to shoot up school nabbed with concealed metallic knuckles

Arthur David Pittman

A dad who once allegedly threatened to shoot up Dunnellon Middle School found himself behind bars Thursday night after a Marion County sheriff’s deputy located concealed metallic knuckles on him during a traffic stop.

The deputy reported that while on routine patrol he was traveling behind a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by 37-year-old Arthur David Pittman. The vehicle’s tag was expired and registered to another vehicle owned by Pittman’s wife, who also was in the vehicle with their juvenile son.

The deputy made contact with Pittman and smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Pittman, his wife and son were ordered out of the vehicle so the deputy could search the Eclipse. The deputy also searched Pittman and found the metallic knuckles, the report says.

The deputy determined that Pittman was a convicted felon and on active felony probation, which was confirmed through the Department of Corrections. He was placed under arrest and charged with possession of concealed metallic knuckles, possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon and a probation violation for sale, manufacture or delivery of marijuana. He was being held on no bond and is due in court April 14 and 16 to answer to the charges.

Pittman is no stranger to the Marion County legal system, having also been arrested in December 2018 after three students told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that they heard him say he had a gun and was ready to shoot six kids. He was taken into custody and charged with disturbing the peace and interfering with school administration functions.
