Fort McCoy woman jailed after spat with elderly man

Seannah Christine McLane Gregory

A 36-year-old Fort McCoy woman was arrested last week after she allegedly battered an elderly man and tried to keep him from calling 911.

Seannah Christine McLane Gregory was charged Thursday with domestic battery on a person 65 years of age or older and obstructing justice by intimidating or threatening a victim. Gregory’s relationship with the victim was redacted in the Marion County Sheriff’s Office report.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that he and Gregory were involved in a verbal altercation over her drinking alcohol. He said the argument turned physical when he tried to call law enforcement with his cell phone. The victim said Gregory took the phone from his hand and pushed him, causing him to fall over a chair, according to the report.

The victim said he tried to use his landline when Gregory grabbed one of the two cordless phones in the home and turned it on, causing the line to be busy. The victim said he was able to get out of the residence, go to a neighbor’s house, and call law enforcement, the report said.

The deputy didn’t observe any marks or injuries on the victim, who said his back was sore from falling over a chair. The cell phone was located hidden under a coffee table. The deputy observed the cordless phone stated, “line in use,” but was unable to find the second cordless phone, according to the report.

The victim’s neighbor said the victim came to his residence and asked to use his phone to call law enforcement, the report said.

Gregory denied pushing the victim and taking his cell phone and disabling the landline. She was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she’s being held on $250 bond. She’s scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on May 12.
